The Organs
The original organ was built in 1838 by Viennese craftsman
Jakob Deutsmann. Thirty years later the instrument was extended
until it boasted 3,096 pipes.
After the alterations it was able to produce 43 registers.
In 1927 the Angster Company from Pécs equipped it with an
electric blowing engine. In 1996 the organ, after more than
one hundred years, was renovated with the help of donations.
It has 3 manual-pedals, 59 registers with mechanical drives
and electric registration. From the original organ 11 rows
of wooden pipes were restored. With these original features
preserved, the listener is able to get a taste of the tonality
of the 19th century.
Since 1981 the Great Church has had another electric organ
with 3 manual pedals and 52 registers. It serves a double
purpose: on the one hand it is a secondary organ for the choir
on the podium-like gallery and on the other hand it leads
the congregation in hymn-singing until the old organ with
pipes is reconstructed.
